A PICTURE PERFECT DESTINATION
OLDE BRIDGE GALLERY NEWBRIDGE
Newbridge is a picturesque village where one can stop and take in a breath of fresh air whilst enjoying the beautiful scenery and general peace of this serene rural area. Newbridge is situated in the Blayney Shire and is a pleasant drive from the larger centres of Bathurst, Orange and Cowra. In the centre of the village is the Olde Bridge Gallery where you can spend some a few moments, or longer, enjoying the work of artists whose art is always unique, never mass produced and where visitors are always welcome.
The artists behind the Olde Bridge Gallery are Wendy Smith, who recently graduated with a Diploma of photography from Torrens University – CATC Design School, and David Lake, a Fellow of the Royal Art Society of NSW. Both have an outstanding collection of works on display at the gallery. There are also amazing recycled timber items by master craftsman Russell Dawson along with bespoke pieces of art that have been skilfully created by some incredibly talented local artists. The display includes photography, metalwork, pottery, leadlight, papercraft, jewellery, handcrafted chocolate, pastels and traditional oil paintings just to name a few.
Both David and Wendy are members of the Bathurst Arts Trail and the gallery is open, along with David’s studio, as a part of the Art Trail. Wendy is not only passionate about her own wildlife and landscape photography but also the work of the other talented artists that live in this beautiful region and strongly believes that the art Trail itself, and the creative minds behind it, offer a wonderful opportunity to see a truly diverse range of artwork. There is something for everyone to enjoy. As mentioned Olde Bridge Gallery is open as part of the Art Trail and on other weekends too from 10am till 4pm.
